Before we get into the standard blog — we’re just 12 days out from the 2018 elections, and that has the #PeopleFirst Bus Team thinking about the impact the next 12 days will have on the next 12 years.

Here’s the thing — gerrymandering sucks. So does unequal justice and not having access to health care. And in 12 days, these things are on the ballot in the form of Democratic candidates who can end gerrymandering, expand access to affordable health care and fight for justice for all Ohioans — from the ballot box to the Statehouse and the Courthouse.

So, are you ready to put in some work for the next 12 days to create a better Ohio for the next 12 years? It’s all on the line right freakin’ now. So knock some doors, make some phone calls, send some texts — step up in these next 12 days and let’s win this, y’all.

*steps off soapbox* And now, back to your regularly scheduled bus tour content!

Our day kicked off in Zanesville with an awesome press conference — we were thrilled to be joined by Governor Ted Strickland, former Cleveland Mayor Jane Campbell, Congressional candidate in OH-6 Shawna Roberts, State House candidate in District 97 Kristine Geis and Muskingum County Commissioner candidate John Bates.

Ted, Jane and the #PeopleFirst Bus Crew stopped in Logan for a rare treat — a lunch break! We grabbed some awesome barbecue at Millstone BBQ (ask me about the side of butter I took home in my purse) and paused outside for some quick pix to document the memory.

Make sure you peep our bus driver Dennis in his Nerds for Cordray shirt!

Next, we headed to Hocking Valley Hospital in Logan to catch up with State House candidate Amber Daniels and County Auditor candidate Christa L. Myers to talk about the importance of health care in this community. We even got to meet some of the hospital’s leaders, and we talked to them about the role that rural hospitals play in the community and our commitment to fighting for rural health care.

Last stop —the Nelsonville Community Dinner! This monthly event was organized to create a sense of neighborly friendship — everyone pitches in to share food and fun. Attendees were everyone from Democrats to firefighters to Nelsonville residents, and we really felt like we were embodying the whole idea of #PeopleFirst.

We even got Gov. Strickland behind the grill!

Alright y’all — 12 days of work for 12 years of impact. Here’s that link again to volunteer: www.ohiodems.org/events
