From the Lake to the Debate
Today we headed north to Lorain, Elyria and Cleveland to talk about our Blueprint for Ohio ahead of the final #OHGov debate.
Fun fact — today was the first time I’ve ever seen Lake Erie. And there was no better time to go see the Great Lake than while riding the #PeopleFirst Bus.
We started off the day in Lorain across the road from Lake Erie to talk about how tomorrow is the last chance to register to vote in the midterms. Chairman David Pepper joined Rep. Dan Ramos (HD56), Betty Sutton (candidate for Lt. Governor), Janet Garrett (Congressional candidate for OH-4) and Sharon Sweda (candidate for SD13) to remind us what’s at stake and what we have to do if we’re going to bring our People First message to Columbus and Washington.
Betty had another event to go to, but the rest of us headed over to Elyria for our next press conference — and let me tell you, this is Janet Garrett Country. We got a warm welcome from local candidates Kelly Kraus Mencke in HD55 and James Johnson in HD57, plus the local activists who make up the Janet Garrett fan club.
For our final stop of the day, the Big Blue Bus rolled into Cleveland to rally before the final Governor’s debate. We ran into Cassimir Svigelj (candidate for HD16) and Aziz Ahmad (candidate for HD7) before heading over to Cleveland State University to rally with our friends from Planned Parenthood and NARAL Ohio outside the debate for Rich Cordray.
As we headed back to Columbus for the day, we tuned in and watched Rich Cordray win the final #OHGov Debate. It’s nights like this that remind us why we’re fighting so hard (and driving so much) — because Ohio deserves a governor who will stand up for women, for working families, for health care and for us.
29 days to go. One day left to register voters. It’s go time.
