A Day Full of Voter Registration
On the last day of voter registration, we hit up two college campuses to register voters before heading off to a press conference and a rally.
On the last day of early voting we headed off to college campuses to engage ~the youths~ and make sure we could register as many voters before the deadline.
First stop — University of Cincinnati with the College Dems and candidates from the area, including judicial candidates Ginger Bock and Pavan Pavikh, plus Christine Fisher in HD27. The candidates worked the crowd, and together we registered dozens of voters in just a couple hours!
Then it was off to the next college visit of the day — we hopped on over to University of Dayton, where we joined Theresa Gasper (Congressional candidate in OH-10), Montgomery County Treasurer Carolyn Rice and Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith. We even had Rep. Mark Takano from California stop by to help us register students at Dayton!
In Dayton, we registered over 40 students — including a high school friend’s younger brother. I convinced him to get registered by threatening to call his mom if he didn’t (and by the end of our conversation, he was asking where he can go to early vote).
Next stop — a press conference in Wapakoneta with local candidates Adam Papin for SD1, Joe Monbeck for HD84 and Aden Baker for HD82 (he’s freakin’ 18 years-old and gives me hope for the future). We also had a spokesperson for Janet Garrett in OH-4 come by and talk about how she’s the change Ohio’s 4th District needs.
We made a quick stop at Allen County Dems HQ in Lima to rally the troops before packing up and heading off to Bowling Green to prepare for an exciting day tomorrow — the first day of early voting!
28 days. Early voting, here we come.
