Six Ways to Maximize Your Impact on National Voter Registration Day
Republicans continue to make it harder to vote in Ohio and across the country, and it’s time to fight back. TODAY is National Voter Registration Day — here are six ways to take action today!
But first, head on over to IWillVote.com/OH — take a few minutes to check your registration, and ask five friends to confirm they are registered to vote. The deadline is Oct. 9 (right around the corner)!
1). Volunteer to Register Voters
Volunteer or attend one of the many events across Ohio and help register new voters before the election! Find a local opportunity to help prepare yourself, your friends and your community for the upcoming election. The actions we take now help decide the future — you can be a part of it!
2). Support Kathleen Clyde for Secretary of State
Fight alongside Kathleen in her effort to stop Republicans’ attacks on voting rights! As a state representative, Kathleen Clyde has been fighting against Jon Husted’s shameful policies for years. As Ohio’s top elections official, Kathleen Clyde would protect Ohioans’ fundamental right to vote.
Spread the word about Kathleen’s campaign for Secretary of State! If you’re in Ohio, you can sign up to volunteer! If you’d like to contribute, click here!
3). Help Elect Democrats
Up and down the ballot, Democrats are fighting against Republicans’ attempts to weaken our democracy. We know that our republic is stronger when more people can participate, and Ohio Democrats will fight for policies that remove harmful obstacles to voting.
You can be part of the Campaign for Ohio! We’re working hard to register voters and get out the vote in 2018 — click here to volunteer!
4). Check Out #SoulsOnTheVoterRolls
Check out the tremendous success the #SoulsOnTheVoterRolls initiative had this weekend! Volunteers at more than 150 places of worship across the state registered thousands of new voters in the event’s inaugural push.
The momentum from these events is essential not only to making our elections free, fair and accessible — but to ensuring our democracy remains as strong as possible.
Want to get involved with these efforts? Contact Jewell Porter (jporter@ohiodems.org) or text TEAM to 909–75 (standard rates may apply).
5). Protect Yourself — and Your Friends and Family!
The 2018 election is sure to be close, and every vote will count. Be sure your vote is counted fairly. Check that you’re still registered to vote at your current address at IWillVote.com/OH. If not, you can still update your registration before the Oct. 9 deadline. It only takes a couple minutes!
6). Make a Plan
Whether you intend to vote early or on Election Day, make plans NOW to bring a friend — voting is more fun in groups, and together you can change Ohio for the better! Plus, you’re more likely to get out and vote if you have a plan in place. Then share these graphics on social media and let people know you plan to VOTE!
